So we made our traditional gingerbread house again. I cheated some and did not make the gingerbread myself. Instead I bought a ready-made (yummy!) package by Dr. Oetker - a famous German baking supply company that makes really good products. It was much easier than last year and the kids had equal amounts of fun. It came with the gingerbread parts and various candies and gummies for decoration. We added some of our own but it was a really good kit -- 3.99 Euros well spent!
Do you see this hand? It's Jacob's. I love his hands. He has the most perfect, wonderfully formed hands. I'm nuts about them. I'm sure you wanted to know that.
Wacky David. All those new teeth don't really fit into his mouth. He better grows some bigger jaws soon, orthdontics are too expensive!
Yes, that's a black cat on the roof. That's classy.
Guess what Leah did. She helped by making the candy disappear.
Caught in the act. Whoops. (Those red cheeks are from the cold outside. All my kids get these bright red cheeks when it's cold but it seems to fade with age.)
Looks like the kids were having a great time!
When do you let them eat the house?
I saw a similar kit in the Babarian delicatessen shop in Limassol. But It cost 25 Euros!!!
I will stick with the cookies this year.
Besos,
maria

They did! They have been begging to eat the house pretty much from the get go. Leah will look at it, tilt her head, smile at me and say, "Nur eins?" Meaning, just one candy, Mommy? A few more days, I think.
25 Euros is a lot. Next year, I will send you one! I should have thought of it but I didn't. Stupid me. Do you think if I send one tomorrow, it will arrive before Christmas?

thanks a lot for the offer... but do not worry too much... kids enjoy the cookie baking very much and I do not have much more energy left (-:
Cypriot post is very irregular... sometimes things arrive in 6 days and sometimes it takes months... literally!

My wife and kids also love decorating the Ginger Bread house every Christmas. My kids always look forward to deciding what to put atop the entire house. The cat on the roof here is very cute. Okay, this made me crave for dessert.
